高考英语完形填空真题篇章精读
Could firsthand experience be the truth?
In our discussion with people on how education can help them succeed in life,a woman remembered the first meeting of an introductory science course about 20 years ago.
The professor marched into the lecture hall, placed upon his desk a large jar filled with dried beans(豆),and invited the students to guess how many beans the jar contained. After listening to shouts of wildly wrong guesses the professor smiled a thin, dry smile, announced the correct answer, and went on saying,“You have just learned an important lesson about science. That is:Never trust your own senses”.

He was taking away her only tool for knowing and was providing her with no substitute(替代). “I remember feeling small and frightened,” the woman says,“and I did the only thing I could do.I dropped the course that afternoon, and I haven’t gone near science since.”

One night, I went to visit him with my sisters ,we started talking about life, and I told them about one of my beliefs .I said that we must always gi
