Jim lives with his mother in a small hotel, and one day, he finds a treasure map from a pirate (海盗) who dies in the hotel. Flint was a famous pirate who hid a lot of gold on an island. When Jim shows the map to Dr Livesey and Squire Trelawney, they decide to search for the treasure. They get a group of people together and set out (出发) on a ship.

One day, two traveling fairies (仙子) were on a long journey. The younger fairy always believed what she saw herself. The older fairy often reminded her, “Don’t judge (判断) so quickly, because things may not be what they seem.”
As night fell, they stopped at a rich man’s house. The man was unfriendly and let them sleep in the basement (地下室). The younger fairy felt angry. But the older fairy said nothing. She saw a hole in the wall and quietly repaired it.
“Why did you help that unfriendly man?” the younger fairy asked in surprise.
“Don’t judge so quickly,” replied the older fairy.
The next night, the fairies came to a very poor farmer’s house. The farmer had almost nothing. But he shared his best food and even gave them his own bed to sleep in. The next morning, they found the farmer crying because his only cow had died overnight.
The younger fairy asked the older fairy angrily, “Why didn’t you watch out for the cow? You helped the rich man but didn’t help the kind poor farmer. Your actions were completely wrong!”
“Don’t judge so quickly,” the older fairy replied.
“I have my reasons. I helped the unfriendly man because I found some gold hidden in the wall through the hole and repaired it so that the rich man couldn’t get it. Last night, the farmer and his cow both got seriously ill, and only one could be saved. I begged (祈求) for the farmer’s life and saved him, not the cow. So the farmer is alive because of my ‘wrong actions’.”
The younger fairy lowered her head. She finally understood: “What she sees is only the surface. The truth often lies deeper.”

A Meaningful Volunteer Day
Last month, I took part in a volunteer activity at a local nursing home with my classmates.
We arrived at 9 a.m. and were warmly welcomed by the elders. First, we cleaned the rooms and swept the yard. Then we chatted with them, listened to their stories, and sang some old songs together. One grandma held my hand and said, “You make me feel young again.” Her words touched me deeply.
By helping others, I realized that even small actions can bring great joy. I also learned to be more patient and thankful. I will never forget that warm smile from the grandma. I look forward to joining more activities in the future.
